Thoth:
The Muscle of Perception
Enough has been said of the subject of discipline of the mind than we can possibly reference given every resource we can find; some more modern approaches no more than modifications of classic methods, once again and in particular those cited throughout Crowley’s Thesis Liber ABA.
We are here only interested in one or more simple exercises specific to disciplining the mind.
We might think of the Judgment scene in the Pr M Hru, being the weighing of the heart as descriptive of a single process, yet depending upon three simultaneous actions: (a) equity or stability (b) recording or accounting (c) discernment (discrimination) or qualification.
As the heart is weighed with Ma’at, Thoth records or accounts for its weight, while Asar discerns by qualification or discrimination the difference between the weight of the heart and the feather. In effect can be said the same of the psychic processes. Any conviction will depend upon the stability or viability of discrimination between two absolute odds. The difference as it were will be equal to the perpetual odds, whether viable or not, and if not then not taken:
Haven’t we heard all of this somewhere? (Asar)
Of course we have…over and over again (Thoth)
And for the third time…(Ma’at)
Three times in the same film, is the exact same process described, from three different perspectives.
The objective exercise(s) is simple enough, convenient since modular and expands towards the final subject of working in the Radiant editor. As for the question of magick there is really no question, except perhaps in affect, in accordance with will; and in which case the warnings regarding glitches cannot be overemphasized. Otherwise we are already familiar with the typical practices adapting one method or other, such as mantra or counting beads, etc. like mnemonic repetition, still a slightly different way of getting at the same thing-only without the beads, going at things directly.
But we have several means of approach.
